Rain CII is the world’s leading producer of calcined petroleum coke. Operations include calcining plants in the United States and India with a total annual production of more than 2.4 million tons. Rain CII operate 4 plants in Louisiana with 125 permanent and 50 contract employees. Rain CII’s leadership aimed to introduce their organization to local, state and federal stakeholders through development of a comprehensive govern-mental, public and community relations action plan. Franklin Associates was tasked with the development of plans for each plant site as well as developing strategies for the corporate headquarters staff.
The project linked plant leadership at six Rain CII sites with key community leaders, initiating Community Advisory Panels where appropriate to allow consistent and ongoing communications. It established and facilitated an ongoing dialog between plant leadership and local, state and federal decision makers, including EPA Region 6 officials, thereby building solid relationships for future communications. The volume and quality of outgoing press releases and public interactions were increased.
